The Nexans Foundation celebrates in Morocco 10 years of helping underprivileged communities
Jun 14, 2023An international commitment with local roots: that's the Nexans Foundation's approach to sustainable access to energy worldwide. Nexans Morocco chose to celebrate, on June 13, 2023, the Nexans Foundation's 10th anniversary by organizing an event on the theme of "How to ensure sustainable and reliable access to energy", an opportunity to look back at the Foundation's major achievements around the world, and in Africa and Morocco.
The event was marked by the organization of two round tables on the themes of "Sustainable electrification and its social impact for Africa and Morocco" and "The role of education and social commitment in building resilience systems", with the participation of the Sanady Foundation, Geres, IECD and SOS Villages d'Enfants NGOs as well as speakers from the institutional, associative, educational and energy sectors.
The contributions of our guests, experts in their respective fields, enabled us to highlight the real social impacts of the development of sustainable electrification, as well as the obstacles and challenges to be overcome to ensure an inclusive energy transition, adopt sustainable solutions and strengthen community resilience.
In Africa, the Nexans Foundation has financed over 96 projects in 19 countries, focusing on rural electrification and vocational professional training. These projects have enabled the construction of schools, improved access to drinking water, installed solar panels and set up irrigation systems, creating opportunities and improving the quality of life of beneficiaries.
Concrete actions in Morocco for access to education, health and energy
In Morocco, the Foundation has supported several sustainable development projects, contributing to the creation of a solar thermal power plant and supporting initiatives to promote the circular economy, waste management and the preservation of natural resources.
Education is also a major focus of the Nexans Foundation's commitment in Morocco, reflected in the sharing of expertise and training for 5,600 electricians and apprentices in Morocco and 600 in Ivory Coast and Guinea Conakry, deployed at Nexans Morocco's Nour training center, as well as partnerships with local universities and institutions.
In addition, the Foundation has participated in the construction of a nursery school, the installation of irrigation systems for agriculture, and the installation of solar panels to supply electricity to certain isolated regions.
Renewed commitment and a promising future
The Foundation looks forward to the months and years ahead with a momentum that will continue and even grow. In collaboration with its stakeholders, it is committed to transforming the living conditions of underprivileged populations, fostering economic development and preserving the environment.
